Rebuild Your Smile With Dentures in Surprise
Today’s dentures fit better, feel more comfortable, and last longer than those “false teeth” you may remember from your childhood. Dentures in Surprise aren’t like your grandfather’s replacement teeth! Dr. Wendelschafer uses custom dentures to help our patients:
- Smile confidently knowing that their teeth look natural
- Eat all their favorite foods again
- Enjoy dining out and trying new dishes
- Improve their oral health and prevent other health problems
- Look younger and more robust
I think when you have good communication with a patient and you explain to them that once their natural teeth are no longer a viable option, the next thing to do is a denture. It’s prosthetic teeth. If you were missing a leg, you’d get a prosthetic leg. If you’re missing your teeth, you get prosthetic teeth.
Dentures can be removable or fixed. If you have a few implants, you can screw the denture into place. One thing that’s critical is that people need to be able to smile. They need to be able to talk with confidence, and you can’t do that without teeth.
The most important part is that they need to be able to eat. The mouth is the first step in the digestive process. You’ve got to be able to eat a variety of foods to maintain a well-balanced diet. So if you’ve run out of your own chompers and then you come to me, we can make you a new set that’s as comfortable and cosmetic as the industry has to offer.
You Can Rely on Our Dentures Expertise
No matter what shape your mouth is in, we can help. Whether you need just a few teeth replaced or complete arches of new teeth, you’ve come to the right place. We offer several types of dentures, depending on your needs and situation:

- Conventional Partial Dentures – Clasp onto your healthy natural teeth when you still have enough remaining teeth.

Common Questions About Dentures
There are several great types of dentures for you to choose from. Dr. Wendelschafer offers conventional dentures to replace either a full arch of teeth or a partial arch (if you have a few healthy teeth remaining). We can also stabilize either upper or lower dentures using a set of dental implants. Implant-secured dentures will stay put while you eat, talk, and laugh.
Dentures can be fabricated from a variety of materials. Acrylic is often used for the base (the part that resembles your gums), and it may be laid over a metal framework of either chrome cobalt or stainless steel. In the past, the teeth of the denture were usually made from porcelain, although resin is becoming more popular today because it is lighter and less expensive.
One of the primary reasons dentures can loosen over time is because of lost bone mass in your jaw. Without natural teeth to stimulate it, the jawbone naturally deteriorates. Although your dentures may fit great now, as you lose bone, they will become less and less snug and will need to be adjusted or relined.
